NAET stands for Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Techniques. This therapy was developed by Dr. Devi Nambudripad, MD, DC, L.Ac., PhD in 1983 as a safe and effective method of treating allergies of all types, including food, environmental and emotional.

Applied Kinesiology (muscle testing) is used to determine which substances weaken the immune system. After testing, the sensitivity to that allergen is treated using acupuncture.

NAET is a gentle, relaxing, 100% natural technique. It is painless and noninvasive, making it a therapy that can be used safely on anyone, including infants and the elderly.

NAET therapy is a way of reprogramming the brain to accept substances that it had previously identified as harmful or toxic. The result is allergy elimination.

How does it work?

NAET is based on the theory and concepts of electromagnetic energy. Your body has a flow of electrical currents called meridians or energy channels. Blockage occurs in the meridians when the body has an allergic reaction. Blockages of different meridians result in different symptoms. By stimulating key acupuncture points along the spine while the patient is holding the allergen vial, the electromagnetic energy is altered in the patient’s body thereby eliminating and neutralizing the allergic response. A chemical, enzymatic, and physiologic change occurs, which neutralizes the immune mediators and interrupts the antigen-antibody reaction. This clears the energy blockages and notifies the brain that the allergen has been desensitized. After each session, it is necessary to avoid the treated allergen(s) for 25 hours.

Conditions that respond well to NAET therapy:

  • Food allergies or sensitivities

  • Environmental allergies

  • Autism

  • Digestive complaints - bloating, gas, leaky gut, indigestion

  • Migraines and headaches

  • Low immunity

  • Eczema, rashes, and acne

  • Autoimmune diseases

  • Adverse reactions to immunizations

NAET can minimize and/or eliminate adverse reactions to the following:

  • Animals

  • Food, vitamins, herbs

  • Environmental allergens, smoke

  • Physical sensitivities like heat, cold, dampness, & wind

  • Chemicals, toxins, perfumes

  • Medications, chemotherapy, immunizations

  • Pathogens, bacteria, viruses

  • Latex

  • Computers and more

How many treatments are needed?

One session is usually sufficient to clear a particular allergen. In some cases, multiple sessions may be needed as only one allergen is cleared or treated per visit. This is not only because your body is actively focused on the one allergen, but also because it would be difficult for your body to go through this procedure with multiple allergens at the same time.

It is advised to clear the first 15 basic families of allergens before moving on to more specific ones. The basic treatments include treatments for essential nutrients, vitamins, minerals, and those that are needed for the normal physical, physiological, and emotional functions of the human body. These nutrients are necessary to maintain a good immune system. When one does not have a strong immune system, allergic reactions are intensified. When one tries to desensitize a severe allergy without improving the immune system first, reactions can be strong and/or unpleasant.

Please follow these guidelines while in treatment:

  • Please advise us of any anaphylactic reactions.

  • Maintain your own treatment and food records.

  • Do not chew gum or eat candy during the treatment.

  • Please do not smoke or wear strong perfume prior to a treatment as these odors can affect the testing and treatment of yourself and other patients in the office.
