Pellegrino Cancer Care Program Earns Distinction - Newsletter

Christine Pellegrino was honored with the Women of Distinction Award for the development of the Pellegrino Healing Center Cancer Care Program.

The Women of Distinction Award

helps bring together and honor women in our community whose professional accomplishments and community contributions inspire the Girl Scouts organization to make the world a better place.

Harvesting strength: Changing the landscape for girls

was chosen by the Girl Scouts as this year's theme because they believe it ties in with everything the honorees stand for. Girl Scouts says that they are, "incredibly lucky and grateful that these women are making a difference within our communities."

Christine was honored to accept this award along with three other honorees on September 18, 2019.

Christine has a special place in her heart for Girl Scouts since her mother, Inga Pellegrino, was her Girl Scout Leader when she was alive and healthy. Christine's mother was an amazing role model who's strength and spirit greatly influenced the woman Christine is today.

The creation of Pellegrino Healing Center's Cancer Care Program began over 20 years ago. When Christine Pellegrino was 16 years old, she lost her mother, Inga Pellegrino, to cancer.

Inga Pellegrino was a Registered Nurse for 25 years. She was a loving wife and mother of three children who dedicated her life to helping others. Inga battled cancer for 8 years, dealing with the side effects and struggles of conventional treatment. Seeing Inga struggle with the physical and emotional difficulties of cancer for so long lit a fire under young Christine. Christine's desire to help others who suffered like her mother became her passion, opening up the gates for healing waters.

The memory of Inga Pellegrino still touches the hearts of all those who knew and loved her. Her essence will continue to reach and help many more with the Inga Pellegrino Healing Center Cancer Care Program in her name.
