Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage*

What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage?

Manual Lymphatic Drainage therapy is a gentle massage by a certified, licensed therapist that can help you boost your immune system, reduce swelling in the body, and promote healing and rejuvenation. The lymph is connected to immunity, digestive health and even brain health.

Manual lymphatic drainage circulates immune cells through your body and increases the absorption and transportation of excess fluid, which flushes toxins from your tissues, helps prevent inflammation and balances your nervous system.

Who can benefit?

Anyone wishing to reduce inflammation in their bodies, especially those seeking relief from the side effects of medical procedures or cancer treatments.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage may benefit you if you are:

  • Post-chemotherapy*

  • Post-radiation*

  • Pre-surgery*

  • Post Surgery*

Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage may benefit you if you have been diagnosed with:

  • Lyme Disease

  • Multiple Sclerosis

  • Parkinson’s Disease

*Always consult with your doctor first. No lymphatic drainage equipment or machines are used during this treatment. A certified therapist is specially trained to use her hands to properly assist the lymphatic system to clear any excess fluid accumulation.

Oncology Massage

Our oncology massage therapy is performed by a licensed massage therapist who has had specialized training in massage techniques for cancer patients. This massage differs from your typical massage, as it requires more background information and assessment of your medical history so that we can implement the appropriate level of pressure and movement for your individual body. Generally, you can expect our oncology massage to be gentler with slower, steadier bodywork. In addition to relieving muscle tension and making you feel more comfortable and soothed, our oncology massage can help with the following:

  • Improve ability to tolerate cancer treatment side effects

  • Reduce headaches

  • Combat chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (numbness)

  • Reduce chemotherapy-related nausea

  • Decrease chronic pain either from the cancer itself or treatment

  • Alleviate stress and anxiety

  • Improve appetite

  • Enhance sleep, emotional well-being, and mental clarity

According to the Society for Oncology Massage:

"An oncology massage is a client-specific, customized massage session designed to meet the unique and changing needs of someone in treatment for cancer or with a history of cancer treatment. A safe massage plan generally revolves around the side effects (both short- and long-term) of chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. Oncology massage should only be performed by a licensed massage therapist who is specially trained in oncology massage. Please consult your healthcare practitioner before scheduling an oncology massage."
